State Pain Policy Advocacy Network SPPAN – Run By the American Academy of Pain Management – SPPAN is an association of leaders, representing a variety of health care and consumer organizations, and individuals, who work together in a cooperative and coordinated fashion to effect positive pain policy on the state level—policy that guarantees access to comprehensive and effective pain care for all people living with pain.

SPPAN is creating a comprehensive and coordinated approach to improve pain policy. Its intent is to provide advocacy leaders with up-to-date information about pain management-related policies, and to give them the tools and resources they need to engage and mobilize other advocates in their state-based networks. SPPAN communicates with its members through bi-monthly meetings, policy updates, and action alerts. SPPAN’s resources include: bi-monthly teleconferences, electronic newsletters, a comprehensive website with resource links, policy statements, a state policy analysis grid, draft legislative and regulatory language, and training and networking opportunities.

With all the changes that are being attempted by State Medical Boards regarding Pain Medicine and practices a coordinated effort was needed regarding Pain Legislation. This is a wonderful website where you can go for help and information if you want to help in your state and local community!
